At its core, painting is paint on canvas or paper. What interests me is the moment when paint and support almost determine the work themselves. My intervention remains minimal: a few lines, stains or a monochrome field. What becomes visible is the material itself, in its colour, absorption, structure and tension.

Over the past few years, canvas, in its many guises, has become increasingly prominent in my work. The work does not arise only on the surface, but within the material itself.
