Simple Monochrome

On the empty sheet I put a rectangular frame with pencil. The brush stroke fits loosely into that frame. The paper is 300 grams partly Hahnemuhle and partly Canson/Montval measuring 50 by 65 cm.

This series is part of the larger Simple Monochrome series. In monochrome watercolour, with simple shapes and gestures I investigate what water, pigment and paper want to show 'naturally'. This natural expressiveness forms a field of tension with the gestures with which the paint is applied.
